Freddie Starr cleared over sex abuse claims

Veteran British funnyman Freddie Starr will not face any charges over allegations of sexual abuse. The popular comedian was first arrested in November, 2012 in the wake of the Sir Jimmy Savile scandal, amid claims he had groped a 14-year-old girl.
He was re-arrested in April last year (13) following further allegations from more than ten other females but he furiously denied any wrongdoing and vowed to sue one accuser.
However, on Tuesday (06May14), officials at the U.K.’s Crown Prosecution Service announced the case will not be pursued as there is no “realistic prospect of conviction”.
Savile, a hugely popular figure in the U.K. during his TV heyday in the 1970s and ’80s, was unmasked as a serial paedophile following his death in 2011 and is thought to have abused more than 400 victims.
