Music icon George Strait is set to become the first country singer to be honoured with Billboard’s Legend Of Live Award. The River of Love hitmaker, who has sold more than 68.5 million records worldwide, will be presented with the accolade on 14 November (13), at the 10th annual Billboard Touring Awards in New York.
Strait is thrilled to be recognised with the prize, which acknowledges box office success as well contributions to live music and the touring business.
He tells Billboard.com, “There’s nothing more rewarding than performing in front of a sold out, pumped-up, loud crowd. That’s what keeps us coming back. I love it.”
Previous recipients of the Legend of Live Award include Neil Diamond, Journey and Ozzy Osbourne.
