Gerard Depardieu loses his licence over drink-driving

French actor Gerard Depardieu has been banned from the roads in his home country and handed a fine at the conclusion of his drink-driving case. The Green Card star, who became a Russian citizen in December (12) after leaving France in a dispute over tax, was found to have been three times over the country’s drink-driving limit after falling off his scooter in Paris in November (12).
The case went to court and he was found guilty of the drink-driving charge during a hearing in the French capital on Friday (21Jun13).
Depardieu, 64, who was not in court to hear his fate as he is currently filming on location in Russia, had his licence suspended for six months and was ordered to pay a fine of around $5,306 (£3,423).
The actor’s lawyer has vowed to launch an appeal.
