Gray, Springsteen to perform holiday shows

Macy Gray is getting ready to hit the road for a series of year-end dates in support of her second album, The Id. According to Launch.com, Gray currently has eight shows on the itinerary, all in the southern and southwestern parts of the country. She will also perform at Los Angeles’ House of Blues on New Year’s Eve. The Id has droppd to No. 116 on the Billboard 200 album sales chart in the nine weeks since its release.

Elvis Presley‘s three-song charity single “America The Beautiful” has placed the King back on the charts. Since its release five weeks ago, the single has climbed the Billboard singles sales chart, this week landing at No. 6. According to Launch.com, all proceeds from the sales of the CD single, released on Oct. 16 by RCA Records, will benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Bruce Springsteen will play holiday concerts at New Jersey’s Convention Hall in Asbury Park on Dec. 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8 at 8 p.m. every night, Launch.com reports. Tickets, priced between $50 and $100, go on sale through Ticketmaster on Tuesday with proceeds going to local charities yet to be named.

Singer Billy Joel has been visiting universities across the country to answer questions and play selections from his new classical album, “Fantasies & Delusions,” the singer told AP Radio recently. “I usually get asked about the project at hand or hit records but not about the job,” Joel, 52, said. “I could have used the information when I was starting out and there was nobody to ask.”
