Jackass host to copycats: “stop doing it.”

The producers of MTV’s Jackass are stepping up their efforts to discourage teenagers from imitating the dangerous stunts performed on the show. Following reports that some teens have been taping their own recreations of the show’s stunts with the intent of sending them to host Johnny Knoxville, the producers have posted a notice on the Jackass Web site, reading in part, “MTV insists that our viewers do not send in any home footage of themselves or others being jackasses. We will not open or view any submissions, so don’t waste your time.” The show itself will also feature excerpts from an interview with Knoxville, in which he says at one point: “Stop doing it. You’re going to get hurt and on a lesser level, we’ll get canceled.”
