James Woods shattered by Boston bomb blast

Actor James Woods was left “shattered” after the bomb blasts that marred the Boston Marathon on Monday (15Apr13) because he attended university in the city and still has an affinity with the area. The Once Upon a Time in America star attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in his youth and was left speechless as he watched news footage following the blasts, which cost three people their lives and injured over 100 more.
Woods tells WENN, “Like any decent person in the world, I’m shattered. I went to school in Boston and I have a very close affinity to that town and the people there. It’s devastating.
“It’s impossible to comment on which brand of lunatic is responsible, but the world seems to be getting a worse place to live and this unrelenting violence is very worrying. There are some very demented, very evil people out there.”
Woods has a closer connection to terrorist attacks on America than most celebrities – he alerted staff on a commercial flight from Boston to Los Angeles in August, 2001 to a group of men acting suspiciously. The actor feared the men were planning to hijack the plane.
As a result of his quick-thinking, he became one of the people FBI agents turned to for information following the 9/11 terrorist attacks three months later.
