Jazz star Yusef Lateef dies

Jazz musician Yusef Lateef has died at the age of 93. The Grammy-winning star passed away at his home in Shutesbury, Massachusetts on Monday (23Dec13), after a battle with prostate cancer, according to the BBC.
Lateef, born William Emanuel Huddleston, was a multi-instrumentalist known for fusing jazz and Eastern music. He also played in bands with Dizzy Gillespie and Charles Mingus.
In 1987, he won a Grammy award for best new age performance for his album, Little Symphony.
The musician is survived by his wife, Ayesha, and son Yusef.
