Jesus Christ Superstar to close on Broadway unless business improves

The producers of the musical have threatened to bring the curtain down on the show due to flagging ticket sales.

The biblical spectacular opened for previews on 22 March (12) and it has played 140 performances.

Ironically, the musical has been nominated for Tony, Drama Desk and Drama League Award nominations for Best Musical Revival, and Josh Young received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical, and won a Theatre World Award for his role as Judas Iscariot, reports BroadwayWorld.com.
