Jodie Sweetin Joins ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Actress Jodie Sweetin is set to compete in the upcoming series of U.S. TV show Dancing with the Stars.

The former child star, who recently reprised her Full House character Stephanie Tanner for TV revival Fuller House, will have her dancing skills tested as she learns routines with her partner Keo Motsepe for the new season.

Jodie announced her involvement during an appearance on U.S. show Good Morning America on Wednesday (02Mar16), admitting she had previously turned down the offer before due to acting commitments.

She says, “I would have loved to have done it in the past but it was a huge scheduling conflict with Fuller House at the time so I wasn’t able to do it, but I’m a huge fan of the show…”

“I’ve always loved to dance. Stephanie was a dancer on the show, I danced growing up, not as much as I would have liked to, I definitely don’t call myself a professional but I have some experience, I have some rhythm, so I’ll be OK.”

Jodie follows in the footsteps of her onscreen sister Candace Cameron Bure, who competed on the dance competition show in 2014, and finished in third place.

The first celebrity announcement comes as professional dancer and reigning champion Derek Hough announced he would be sitting out of the new series to focus on acting. His sister, Julianne, who was a former show regular, has also stepped down as a judge.

The 22nd series of the programme begins on 21 March (16).
