Lady Gaga has been preparing for her Super Bowl Halftime Show since she was four years old.
The Poker Face singer is currently in rehearsals for the coveted performance slot, which takes place during the sporting event in Houston, Texas on 5 February (17).
In a behind-the-scenes video released by Pepsi, the sponsors of the performance, Lady Gaga revealed she had been dreaming of what her Super Bowl show would look like since she was a little girl.
“I’ve been planning this since I was 4, so I know exactly what I’m going to do,” she said. “For me, it’s all about giving to the fans and bringing people together that wouldn’t normally come together.”
She continued by listing the challenges of performing in a slot which will be watched by millions around the world.
“The thing is, it’s such a big world stage in terms of how many people see it and it’s been done so many times,” she explained. “I think the challenge is to look at it and say, ‘What can I do differently? How can I elevate certain little things here and there, and also make it about the music?’ This is where I’m supposed to be.”
The video also shows her choreographer Richy Jackson teaching dancers the routine to Bad Romance in a studio in Burbank, California. Speaking to the camera, he says they want to put a Gaga spin on the show and make it different to what has been seen before.
“This is probably the greatest 12 minutes of our lives,” he said.
The singer has also set up a dancefloor in her backyard so she can practice her routines. According to reports, she wants to sing on the top of the NRG Stadium’s dome, but it is unclear if this proposal will be approved.
According to ETOnline, she has been banned from making any political statements by bosses of the National Football League (NFL), but an NFL spokesperson denied the report, telling TMZ it was “unsourced nonsense”.
