Lena Dunham detained by TSA agents over cat keychain

Actress Lena Dunham was left hysterical after rushing to catch a recent flight when she was detained by airport security officials over a cat-shaped keychain they deemed potentially-dangerous. The Girls star was running late as she arrived at a Los Angeles airport to fly to Ohio, and her stress levels sky-rocketed as she ran into a problem with Transportation Security Agents (TSA), who believed her cute keychain could be used as a weapon.
She explains, “I was late for my flight, rushing through (airport security). Clearly there was an issue with my purse; they kept scanning it and I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ and then I see some really intense talk (between the agents)… I see two guys kind of look at each other like, ‘Oh, we got a real situation on our hands…’
“They pulled out my keychain… One of the women I share my office with had given us all self-defence keychains… It’s shaped like a cat, it goes over your knuckles, but I guess the two ears could, like, gut somebody… (So) the two TSA workers were like, ‘We’re going to need to take you aside and wait for law enforcement to come to assess the situation and decide what our further steps are…’ It was the only time I hoped someone would walk by and say, ‘Love the show,’ just so they knew I wasn’t a convicted criminal… I was so scared.”
Dunham reveals she was in tears by the time police officers arrived and she was allowed to walk free after confirming she did not have a criminal record.
She continues, “I was crying, and then finally they were like, ‘We want you to know that because this is your first offence we are not going write you up. However, we are not going to be able to let you take this keychain with you.’ I was like, ‘I don’t want it, do you think I ever want this to happen to me again?'”
