Lionel Richie can’t wait to treat his daughter Nicole’s kids to a concert experience when he hits the road on his upcoming All Night Long tour – because they have no idea he’s a big star. His grandchildren are too young to realise that the soul legend was once a chart-topping star, and they believe their dad, Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, is the only professional singer in the family.
Richie says, “The joke is they have no idea who the heck I am or what I do for a living. I’m pop-pop officially… and pop-pop does not sing, Joel sings. Daddy sings.
“This is going to be an interesting thing when they watch me walk out onstage and they go, ‘What’s pop-pop doing on the stage?'”
