This Gift Mark Wahlberg Gave His Mom Proves He’s The World’s Greatest Son

Mark Wahlberg‘s mother can’t find the words to describe how proud she is of her son, especially after he surprised her with a car.

The 45-year-old actor took his mum, Alma, to the premiere of his new movie Patriots Day in Boston on Wednesday (14Dec16), where she couldn’t hide her delight at a kind gesture from Mark.

“I don’t know if there’s words, but he’s come a long way,” she told Entertainment Tonight when asked how proud she is of him. “About a year and a half ago, I said to him, ‘You know the rules, call your mother! You have to call your mother!'”

“So, he’s called me every day for the last two years. Every day… And you know what I love? He’s grateful, and so that makes me really happy. I looked out my front door today, and there was this brand new car sitting out there with the big red bow on it!”

It turned out that the Ted star had bought Alma, 74, a brand new Hyundai Azera, which she describes as her “favorite car in the world”. Although it blew her away, Mark pointed out his parent hadn’t exactly kept quiet about her desire to own the vehicle.

“She was in love with this Hyundai,” he laughed. “She kept asking me, and I kept saying no, and she told my sis that I was getting one anyway, so then I was like, ‘Alright, Let’s just get it for her.’ I wanted it to be a surprise.”

Patriots Day documents the events surrounding the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, when terrorists used pressure cooker explosions and carried out shootings which killed three people and injured an estimated 264. Mark was glad to have his loved ones nearby for the premiere and screening, as they are all from a neighborhood in Boston.

“The horror and the tragedy that happened has brought people together in a way that is so inspiring… It’s the reason why we wanted to see the movie and the love that is going to come out of this theatre and the energy and the resolve to keep moving forward,” he explained.

Patriots Day begins hitting cinemas from Christmas Day (25Dec16).
