Megadeth cancel shows following bassist’s bereavement

Heavy metal stars Megadeth have cancelled all their upcoming shows following the death of their bassist’s brother. Bandmember David Ellefson is mourning the loss of his 51-year-old sibling Eliot, who spent two years battling cancer before he passed away earlier this week (beg19May14).
The news has prompted Dave Mustaine’s group to axe all its upcoming shows over the next month, including festival dates in Sweden, France, Holland, Denmark, Austria and Hungary. They are slated to return to the road on 20 June (14) for the Amnesia Rockfest in Quebec, Canada.
A statement posted on the Megadeth website reads, “Megadeth has cancelled immediate tour plans as bassist David Ellefson and his family mourn the loss of his brother, who passed away on May 19, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A private family funeral service will be held. The band sends their deepest condolences and prayers to David during this time and ask that the fans do the same.”
