Mickey Rooney’s Disney classic set for revamp

A remake one of Mickey Rooney’s most beloved films has been fast-tracked by Hollywood executives, two days after the veteran actor’s death. Disney bosses are reportedly in talks with Ain’t Them Bodies Saints director David Lowery about a Pete’s Dragon revamp.
According to TheWrap.com, Lowery was originally asked to co-write the screenplay for the reimagined 1977 film last year (13), but now it appears he’s the frontrunner to direct the remake.
The original featured Rooney, Shelley Winters, Helen Reddy and Jim Dale and centred upon a young boy’s friendship with an animated dragon.
Rooney passed away on Sunday (06Apr14), aged 93.
