Morgan Freeman to pick up Screen Actors Guild top honour

Morgan Freeman is to be honoured with the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.
The movie star will accept his latest accolade, the 54th to be handed out, at the annual SAG Awards in January (18).
“Some actors spend their entire careers waiting for the perfect role. Morgan showed us that true perfection is what a performer brings to the part,” said SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris, while announcing this year’s life achievement award recipient on Tuesday (22Aug17).
“He is innovative, fearless and completely unbound by expectations. As a chauffeur, convicted murderer, boxing gym attendant, pimp or president, Morgan fully realised every character, baring their souls and showcasing their humanity. It has been a privilege to see his genius at work.”
Freeman has previously earned four Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and a win for his performance in Million Dollar Baby.
