One Direction recorded album on the road

Pop stars One Direction suffered sleepless nights as they recorded their new album on the road by setting up studios in hotel rooms and writing songs on their tour bus. The boyband will release its third record, Midnight Memories, on Monday (25Nov13) and the singers have now revealed the bulk of the work was done while they were travelling the globe on their recent Take Me Home Tour.
The process meant the young stars would often go straight from the stage to a recording session and work all the way through the night.
Bandmember Zayn Malik tells Billboard.com, “We toured all year and had to find time to record the album. We had studios in the hotel rooms and recorded when we got back from the shows, it felt like we were doing something really exciting…! I’m a night owl, so the late-night recordings don’t really bother me – as long as I can sleep in late!”
Louis Tomlinson adds, “Lots of late nights but well worth it. I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved this year, our fans are growing up with us and we hope they’ll relate to the songs like we do.”
