Oprah Winfrey, country legend Loretta Lynn and former U.S. President Bill Clinton are among the 16 recipients of this year’s (13) Presidential Medal of Freedom. The honour is given to those who have made contributions to the security or national interests of the U.S.
Sally Ride, the first female astronaut in space, will be honoured posthumously when President Barack Obama hands out the awards at the White House in Washington, D.C. later this year (13).
