Pete Townshend honours Iain Banks at The Who concert

The Who star Pete Townshend paid tribute to late Scottish writer Iain Banks during the band’s gig in Glasgow this week (beg10Jun13). Banks passed away on Sunday (09Jun13), aged 59, after a battle with cancer, and Townshend made sure to mention The Wasp Factory author when The Who played in his native Scotland on Wednesday night (12Jun13).
During the show at Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Townshend dedicated the band’s track Behind Blue Eyes to Banks, bringing a huge cheer from the crowd.
Banks, who announced his battle with terminal cancer in a post on his official website in April (13), died just days before the release of his final project, The Quarry, which is due to hit stores on 20 June (13).
