Paul Allen, the trustee of late writer Adrian Jacobs’ estate, filed suit against Rowling and her U.K. publishers Bloomsbury back in 2009, alleging parts of her 2000 novel Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire were lifted from Jacobs’ Willy The Wizard stories.
A judge refused to dismiss the case in 2010, but ordered Allen to come up with 65 per cent of the court costs faced by Rowling and Bloomsbury to continue the legal battle.
The deadline for the payment was Friday (15Jul11), but no money was handed over and the case has now been struck out.

Bloomsbury solicitor David Hooper is pleased the suit is now defunct, saying, “The whole thing is a scandal. It was an absolutely ludicrous case.”
