“Rugrats in Paris” Premiere

HOLLYWOOD, November 7, 2000 — Hollywood Boulevard was blocked off, police officers were stationed at every corner and screaming people lined the streets — not your typical Sunday morning at the Mann Chinese Theatre. But Paramount Pictures took over to premiere “Rugrats in Paris: The Movie,” and Rugrat-mania was in effect.

But no one seemed more surprised than the voices behind the Rugrats themselves.

“In my wildest dreams I had no idea that this show would catch on like this,” uttered Michael Bell, who plays Chas.

“I think it is so great that all these people showed up,” said Cheryl Chase, who plays the spunky Angelica.

This time, the Rugrats travel to Paris, the city of romance. Love is in the air as Chuckie searches for a new mom and Stu Pickles is summoned to EuroReptarland, an amazing new amusement park, to work on his Reptar invention.

“This movie has a heart and it’s not just for kids, but it’s relatable for all ages,” said E.G. Daily, the voice of “Tommy.”.

The group No Authority sent young ladies into a tizzy whenever they sang “I’m Telling You This,” which is featured on the soundtrack. And actress Debbie Reynolds was full of the Rugrat spirit as she walked into the movie shouting, “Go Rugrats!”

Beau Bridges, Ray Romano, Cree Summer (“A Different World”), Bruce Davison (“X-Men”) and Victoria Rowell (“Young and the Restless”) were seen hand-in-hand with their young companions walking into the theater.

“Rugrats in Paris: The Movie” invades theaters Nov. 17th.
