Russell Crowe pays tribute to A Beautiful Mind mathematician

RUSSELL CROWE has paid tribute to JOHN NASH, the mathematician he portrayed in A BEAUTIFUL MIND, following his death on Saturday (23May15).
The Nobel Prize-winner and his wife Alicia were killed when a taxi cab they were travelling in crashed into a guardrail on the New Jersey Turnpike as the driver tried to overtake another car and lost control.
Nash, 86, and Alicia, 82, were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to the New York Daily News.
Crowe was nominated for an Academy Award for his portrayal of Nash as a young genius to a paranoid schizophrenic in the 2001 drama, which won the Best Picture Oscar.
He writes on Twitter.com, “Stunned… my heart goes out to John & Alicia & family… An amazing partnership. Beautiful minds, beautiful hearts.”
Meanwhile, co-star Jennifer Connelly, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Alicia Nash in the film, has added her condolences, writing, “This is a great loss. John and Alicia Nash were an inspiration and I have deep admiration for all that they accomplished in their lives. My thoughts are with their family.”
And the film’s producer Brian Grazer adds, “Incredibly sad to lose the wonderful, intelligent miracle of John Nash and his wife… #JohnNash gave the world a window into humanity – how the disabled may think and feel inside.”
