Rutgers University to offer Springsteen course

Fans of Bruce Springsteen can now study The Boss thanks to a new course at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Deans at the New Brunswick college are planning to offer a freshman seminar examining the theology of Springsteen.
Course professor Azzan Yadin-Israel has revealed the class will cover Springsteen’s entire discography from his 1973 album Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. to last year’s (12) Wrecking Ball, according to RollingStone.com.
The professor says, “Springsteen tries to drag the power of religious symbols that are usually relegated to some transcendent reality into our lived world. In his later albums he also writes very openly about faith.”
