Sam Smith scores U.K.’s fastest-selling debut album of 2014 with In The Lonely Hour

British singer Sam Smith has scored the U.K.’s fastest-selling debut album of the year (14) so far with In The Lonely Hour. The 22 year old’s first record shifted 101,000 copies in its first seven days on release and topped Coldplay’s Ghost Stories for the number one spot.
Ghost Stories slipped to two, while Paolo Nutini’s Caustic Love took third place and Paloma Faith’s A Perfect Contradiction and Michael Jackson’s Xscape rounded out the new top five.
Meanwhile, on the U.K. singles chart, SecondCity has scored his first number one with I Wanna Feel.
Smith’s Stay with Me dropped to number two, with Klingande’s Jubel just behind at three.
Mr Probz’s Wave and Rita Ora’s I Will Never Let You Down came in at numbers four and five, respectively.
