Sara Bareilles’ return to Broadway breaks Waitress and theatre records

Singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles’ Broadway return in the musical Waitress has helped the show break box office records.
The star, who wrote the music for the production, is back onstage with her longtime pal Jason Mraz, and fans can’t get enough of the pair.
Waitress grossed over $1.6 million (GBP1.1 million) last week (ends21Jan18) – the most lucrative seven days for the show and the highest grossing week ever for the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, according to BroadwayWorld.com.
The previous record was set by Waitress for the last week of 2016.
Meanwhile, Saturday night’s (20Jan18) performance was the musical’s highest grossing, with $217,500 (GBP155,500).
Bareilles will be treading the boards in the musical until 25 February (18).
