Scott MacIntyre requires another kidney transplant

Singer Scott Macintyre needs a second kidney transplant seven years after he first underwent the life-saving operation. The former American Idol contestant initially battled kidney disease in 2005 and the wife of his former piano instructor offered an organ to him in 2007.
However, the transplanted body part has become weaker over time and MacIntyre now needs to have it replaced to ensure the condition does not return.
He tells The Hollywood Reporter, “She literally gave me the gift of life in the most tangible way… I’m so grateful to my first kidney donor for these past seven years of my life. Without that life-saving gift, I would never have been on American Idol, married my wife or been able to share my life story with so many people around the world. Unfortunately, transplanted kidneys can’t last forever, and now I’m facing the same life-threatening illness once again.”
The 29 year old was placed on the transplant program at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee last week (ends21Sep14) and he is also on America’s national waiting list. He requires a transplant within six months.
