Scruggs claims she was “verbally offered” the sum by bosses at an unidentified insurance company as compensation for the severe injuries she sustained after being struck by the spinning blades of a two-seater plane in Texas in December (11).
In legal documents obtained by TMZ.com, Scruggs alleges she was told the amount is the maximum the firm can pay out to an aircraft “passenger”.
But the fashion blogger turned down the fee, insisting she should not be considered a passenger since “she was not in the aircraft or getting in or out of it at the time of the incident”.
Scruggs then argues that she had “completed her exit from the aircraft prior to the time of the incident and was physically located on the tarmac (sic) when the incident happened”.
The complaint adds, “Until struck by the propeller, she was not in physical contact with the aircraft after her exit.”
Scruggs is now suing the firm for unspecified damages, believed to be far in excess of $200,000.
