The king’s accident happened in the African republic on Friday (13Apr12) and he was repatriated to Spain in a 10-hour journey by private jet for the operation.
The surgery, at Madrid’s San Jose hospital on Saturday (14Apr12), was a success.
An official statement reveals the royal sustained “a fracture in three fragments of the right hip, associated with osteoarthritis of that joint.”
