Terrence Howard loses lawsuit over unpaid rent

Newlywed actor Terrence Howard has been ordered to settle a debt with his former New York landlord over missing rent payments, after failing appear in court for a hearing into the lawsuit. The Iron Man star, who quietly wed his girlfriend Miranda earlier this autumn (13), was evicted from his Manhattan pad in May (13) amid allegations he had been living there rent-free, despite his lease on the property coming to an end in November, 2012.
Howard’s landlord launched legal action in August (13) to recover almost $52,000 (£34,670) he claimed he was owed in rent, and the case went to court this month (Dec13).
According to TMZ.com, the Oscar nominee was a no-show so the judge issued a default ruling in the plaintiff’s favour.
However, the judge didn’t immediately accept the landlord’s accounting figures and has instead set another hearing to determine how much Howard should pay.
