The Charlatans to play Jon Brookes tribute gig

British rockers The Charlatans are set to pay tribute to late drummer Jon Brookes by performing a benefit gig at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall. The group was hit hard in August (13) when Brookes lost his battle with brain cancer at the age of 44, and frontman Tim Burgess admitted he and his bandmates were “torn apart” by the tragedy.
The Charlatans have now decided to hold a concert in their pal’s memory and raise money for charity at the same time.
A statement released by the band reads: “Following the loss of our much missed friend and drummer, Jon Brookes, we, together with some friends, are putting on a show at the Royal Albert Hall. The show will benefit The Brain Tumour Charity, which Jon was involved with during his illness.
“It’s our way of raising money for research into and awareness of a cancer that will unfortunately affect many lives as it has ours. We look forward to seeing you at the Royal Albert Hall and making it a night to remember.”
The benefit show will take place on 18 October (13).
