Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) swooped on the Two and a Half Men star’s Beverly Hills mansion following a tip-off that Sheen might be keeping a gun there – a move which would violate a restraining order granted to his estranged wife Brooke Mueller.
After a through search of the property, police failed to discover any weapons apart from an antique rifle, which was confiscated, and a spokeswoman for the LAPD subsequently confirmed “the investigation is complete”.
But the drama continued after cops left – a 911 call was placed at 11.35pm local time to report a trespasser in Sheen’s backyard. An unnamed 26-year-old man from Missouri was detained and later taken to the local police precinct, according to Etonline.com.
He was booked on suspicion of trespassing and his bail was set at $1,000 (£667).
The news comes as Sheen’s lawyer Mark Gross released new details about the police raid, revealing the search was sparked by a “reckless statement” given to police and didn’t turn up anything incriminating.
He says, “Somebody made some statement apparently to the LAPD, a reckless statement, about something with Charlie and guns. They (the police) properly did their job. They did an investigation… The only thing that they took with them…was a few bullets and a 1800s antique gun… Charlie will get them back in his possession at the appropriate time. But other than that, they didn’t seize anything. Someone had asked if they found any drugs. The answer is absolutely not.”
And Gross also dismissed rumours the actor was being considered for an involuntary psychiatric hold, adding, “Anybody who’s saying that, anybody who’s implying that, couldn’t be more wrong.”
