Senator John McCain has been hospitalized as he continues his battle with brain cancer.
The 81-year-old politician was admitted to the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday (13Dec17), after experiencing side effects from his medical treatment.
A statement issued by the Republican’s representative reads: “As ever, he remains grateful to his physicians for their excellent care, and his friends and supporters for their encouragement and good wishes.
“Senator McCain looks forward to returning to work as soon as possible.”
McCain was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, in July (17).
The latest news of his condition emerged hours after his daughter, TV personality Meghan McCain, broke down in tears as she co-hosted The View and was comforted by the daytime show’s guest, former Vice President Joe Biden. The Democrat, a close friend of the Senator’s, lost his son Beau to the same condition in 2015.
