Wall Street makes money at U.K. box office

Oliver Stone’s sequel to his Oscar-winning 1987 movie, with Michael Douglas reprising his role as greedy Gordon Gekko, made big bucks at the U.S. box office last month (Sep10) and has followed suit in Britain.

The film shot to the top of the chart with last week’s (ends10Oct10) earnings, seeing off competition from Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel’s romantic comedy Life As We Know It, which debuted at number two with $1.5 million (£985,560).

Zac Efron’s The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud opened in third place with $965,052 (£643,370), followed by The Other Guys at four and The Town at five.
