Will.i.am to revamp the homes in the community where he grew up

Rapper will.i.am is “on a mission” to improve the lives of low-income families in the community he called home as a kid after teaming up with bosses at eco-property developer Delos. The Black Eyed Peas frontman recently met with Delos co-founder Morad Fareed and now the two pioneers are making plans to revamp the homes of residents who live in the California housing project the musician was raised in.
He tells The Hollywood Reporter, “I appreciate that Morad took the time to educate me and the i.am.angel Foundation team about how buildings can make people healthier, versus contributing to health problems.
“I am on a mission to enhance my hometown neighborhood of Boyle Heights, including helping to make Estrada Courts, the public housing project where I grew up, a healthier and more comfortable place to live.”
He’s not the only star with ties to Delos – Leonardo DiCaprio joined the group’s board of advisers earlier this month (Nov13), after purchasing a luxury apartment in a Delos Living complex in New York.
