A $1 million (£645,000) jewellery collection intended to be worn by stars attending the Cannes Film Festival in France has been stolen. The Chopard gems were taken from an employee’s room at a Novotel hotel in the resort, local police reported on Friday (17May13).
Cannes opened on Wednesday (15May13), with singer Lana Del Rey and model Cara Delevingne among the celebrities to have already sported Chopard jewellery.
The Swiss gems giant has been the official sponsor of the festival for several years, and loans its designs to stars who grace the red carpet.
