The Sting to be adapted for Broadway

Oscar-winning film The Sting is heading to Broadway as a new musical. The 1973 movie, set in Depression-era Chicago, Illinois, featured pals Robert Redford and Paul Newman and picked up seven Academy Awards in 1974 – but now producers behind a new stage version have Tony Awards in their sights.
According to Deadline.com, they have recruited three Tony Award winners – The Drowsy Chaperone writer Bob Martin and Urinetown duo Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis – for the project.
The late Marvin Hamlisch created the Oscar-winning score for the film, but it is unclear if his work will be incorporated into the planned stage adaptation.
