South Korean pop star Rise dead at 23

Singer Rise of South Korean pop group Ladies’ Code died on Sunday (07Sep14), just days after a horrific car accident which killed her bandmate Eunb. The 23 year old, real name Kwon Ri-se, was travelling with EunB and six other passengers in a car in South Korea on Tuesday (03Sep14) when its back wheel came off and the vehicle crashed into a guardrail.
EunB died shortly after the accident and Rise had been unconscious and in critical condition ever since. She underwent a series of operations to treat a serious head injury, but died in hospital on Sunday.
A statement from the band’s record label reads, “At the time of the accident on the 3rd (September), RiSe obtained a big injury to her head and was moved to the hospital. She was operated on as much as possible for a long time, but she has ultimately passed away… Her parents, who came from Japan, and the label employees stayed with her at the end. We are sorry to give another sad news since the late EunB and we cannot hide our sorrow.”
Fellow bandmembers Ashley and Zuny sustained minor injuries and were released from hospital in time for EunB’s funeral on Friday (05Sep14). Another member Sojung is still recovering in hospital.
