Former Marlboro Man dies at 85

Darrell Hugh Winfield, one of the last surviving Marlboro Men, has died at the age of 85. Winfield passed away at his home in Riverton, Wyoming on Monday (12Jan15).
He was best known for playing one of the macho cowboys featured in the cigarette company’s iconic advertising campaign, and Winfield’s rugged good looks were shown in print and TV commercials from the late 1960s to the late 1980s.
Winfield found success as a model after employees at the Leo Burnett advertising agency discovered him working on a ranch in Wyoming in 1968.
