One of the funniest comedians on the circuit was Greg Giraldo. A staple on Comedy Central’s roasts, Giraldo never achieved great fame but he still enjoyed a healthy respect among comedians and fans of comedy. He was hospitalized earlier this week for overdosing. Today, a tweet from fellow comedian Jim Norton’s Twitter account confirms his death, but an official word hasn’t been released as to the cause.
Often brash, Giraldo’s sense of humor and gravelly voice nevertheless exposed the darker (but funny) side of life. His constantly never-clean shaven face was an inspiration to slackers everywhere.
He was a great comedian and will be missed.
