Scammers offering fake Justin Timberlake tour dates

Justin Timberlake’s tour promoter has issued a warning about Internet fraudsters who are targeting concert bookers with false promises of a tour.
Live Nation’s John Giddings, who represents the Cry Me A River singer in the U.K., told British trade magazine Music Week that scammers have been impersonating him via email and have asked promoters to make hotel bookings on Justin’s behalf.
“I’m happy to present you the following tour, of one of the greatest all-around entertainers in the history of show business,” the email reads. “In case you’re interested or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing back from you.”
Giddings, who also founded the modern incarnation of the Isle of Wight festival, said he had been inundated by messages from promoters desperate to book Justin.
“Every promoter in the world is emailing me saying, ‘Is this true?'” Giddings told Music Week. “They keep trying to close down the website or the email address, but they keep changing it. Somebody, somewhere is going to get conned in to giving some money. It’s incredible the amount of emails I’ve had about it, it’s unbearable.”
He explained that Live Nation executives would never send out unsolicited emails, adding, “When you represent Justin Timberlake you do not need to send an email like that asking for offers. We know where we want to play if we do a tour and we know what the ticket price should be. We don’t operate like that, it’s abnormal.”
In 2015, con artists ran a similar scam offering Aerosmith and Pearl Jam tour dates, while Adele’s booking agent Lucy Dickins has also been impersonated by fraudsters.
