“The District” to open with Chandra-like story

The executive producer of the Washington, D.C.-based drama The District says that the show’s season premiere on Sept. 22 will have a plot line with similarities to the case of missing intern Chandra Levy. John Wirth told the current issue of TV Guide: “We wanted to contrast how the police deal with the disappearance of a young woman connected to power and how they deal with a young woman without connections who disappears.” He denied that the program was attempting to exploit the Levy case. “We’re really exploring the plight of those who turn up missing, and their loved ones,” Wirth said.
