Everything You Need To Know About ‘The Mindy Project’s Hulu Premiere

It’s always devastating when a show, especially one as timely and hilarious as Mindy Kaling’s The Mindy Project, gets axed from television. Lucky for us, we live in an era of streaming platforms and premium cable channels, so sometimes fan favorites are saved from cancellation.  When FOX made the decision to cancel The Mindy Project last spring, Hulu jumped forward to save the day. The fourth season of Mindy will premiere Tuesday Sept. 15th on Hulu.  Here is everything you need to know about this new season to prepare you.

1. The Mindy Project on Hulu will have a super long season.

Usually, television series have about a 22-episode season. However, Hulu has ordered 26-episodes of The Mindy Project. More Mindy definitely equals a ton more fun.

2. No binge-watching.

Sadly, instead of releasing all of the episodes of the fourth season of The Mindy Project at once, Hulu will follow a network television formula and release one episode per week. On the bright side, seasons 1-3 are still available to stream in their entirety on Hulu.

3. Things will be a bit more sexy.

Without the constraints of network regulations, The Mindy Project is free to get a bit racier. It won’t be Game of Thrones sexy, but it may be a tad more adult now that it’s on Hulu.

4. Mindy & Danny’s son will make his debut.

As much as we all love Mindy, she’s not necessarily the most organized. Unfortunately preparing for a newborn takes a ton of organization and prep. Nevertheless, whether she’s ready or not, Mindy’s son will make his debut this season. It’s going to be an amazing to watch how the OBGYN drama queen handles everything.

5. A universe where there’s no Mindy + Danny.

Though they are the exact opposite of one another, Mindy and Danny are happy and in love. However, what if they never got together at all? Season 4 of The Mindy Project will explore an alternate universe where Mindy is married to a BRAVO TV producer played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

6. A whole lot more of Tamra & Beverly.

Though they are supporting characters, Tamra and Beverly are two fan favorites on Mindy. On network TV, because of the 21-minute time constraint, supporting cast members aren’t often given a lot of room to shine. On Hulu, without the time constraints we’ll get to see a whole lot more of these hilarious ladies.

7. A new doctor will join Mindy’s OBGYN practice.

After Mindy has her baby, she’s going to have to go on maternity leave which means another doctor will have to fill in for her. Actor Garrett Dillahunt will play the doctor who replaces Mindy. However,  knowing Mindy, having someone replace her (even temporarily) won’t go over well.

8. We’ll finally meet Mindy’s parents.

Though we have yet to meet Mindy’s parents, from what we know, they aren’t too pleased about Mindy and Danny having a baby out of wedlock. The Lahiri’s will appear for the first time in season four probably giving Danny’s mother Annette a run for her money.

9. Expect the same ol’ Mindy

Though Mindy on Hulu will have a couple of tweaks to it, the best part about it’s comeback is the fact that Kaling has promised fans the same show they know and love.
