How to Create a Purr-fect Cat Eye

Time to put the “line” in feline!

A strong cat-eye has been our go-to look for years. It’s super versatile and flatters any eye shape. Plus, it looks amazing in a range of colors: from staple black, to aquamarine and gold, the look has been in our beauty arsenal for longer than we can remember.

It used to be that cat eyes or dramatic wings were a look exclusively limited to night-time. But over the last few years it’s become a daytime staple. Due to it being our go-to look, we’ve been on the hunt for ways to amp it up for a night out.

We sat down with Kayleen McAdams (yes, Rachel’s sister!), the makeup artist for CK One Color Cosmetics, to get the lowdown on the look.

“A lot of people do a cat eye for day but you should start off with a kitten eye instead,” she told BTR.

What’s a kitten eye exactly? “It’s a thin line with a subtle, flirty wing.”

She recommends opting for a dainty kitten eye for work, and transforming it to a cat eye for a night out.
