Looks like Halle Berry may have a few more days to contemplate on what to wear to court.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office dispelled rampant reports that Berry would be charged as soon as today in an alleged felony hit-and-run case. Officials with the prosecutor’s office told Hollywood.com that they did not anticipate filing any charges against the 33-year-old actress — at least not today anyway.
Berry — a no-show at Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards where she took honors (in abstentia) for her work in the HBO TV movie “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge” — sustained a gash on her forehead during the two-car collision in West Hollywood, Calif., on Feb. 23. Crash investigators say they believe Berry fled the scene after running her rented Chevy Blazer into a passenger car motored by 27-year-old Hetal Raythatha.
Last week, the woman struck back on her own, filing suit against Berry and saying she’d suffered a broken wrist and psychological distress in the accident. Her complaint also accused Berry of “gross negligence” and “torturous infliction of emotional distress.”
The Berry case was submitted for review by prosecutors last month, and according to folks at the District Attorney’s Office, it still is under review. While there’s no word yet on when — or if — Berry will be charged, the same people did tell us to check back Tuesday.
