Netflix has released the official Stranger Things Season 5 trailer, reuniting our favorite Indiana teens for one last battle against the Upside Down. Set to return later this year, the series picks up where it left off — with Max (Sadie Sink) in a coma and Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) still looming as the ultimate threat.

With Hawkins now collapsing into the Upside Down and Max’s fate hanging in the balance, the stakes have never been higher. Since its 2016 debut, Stranger Things has delivered supernatural thrills, unforgettable characters (RIP Eddie!), and deep-rooted friendships — all wrapped in an ‘80s aesthetic full of Dungeons & Dragons, roller rinks, and synth-heavy soundtracks. As the end draws near, it’s hard not to feel nostalgic for the show that made nostalgia cool.
Stranger Things Season 5 Trailer: Everything You Need to Know
The teaser confirms that Max (Sadie Sink) remains in a coma as the final season begins, while several intense and emotional scenes suggest that not everyone will make it out alive. Stranger Things will wrap up its story in three parts, with Volume 1 premiering November 26, Volume 2 arriving on Christmas Day, and the series finale set for New Year’s Eve.
The trailer was accompanied by an official synopsis of Stranger Things Season 5:
“The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna,” the synopsis reads. “But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
