A female-driven, live-action TV series based on King Kong is in the works.

King Kong Skull Island will be adapted from Merian C. Cooper’s King Kong and Joe DeVito’s Skull Island universe and will feature a female lead, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series will be developed by bosses at MarVista Entertainment and IM Global Television and will serve as the first live-action TV show in the franchise.

The TV news follows the release of Kong: Skull Island last month (Mar17). The movie stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Samuel L. Jackson.
