The Colbert Report – 11:30/10:30c on Comedy Central
As great as The Colbert Report is — and it is extremely great — we seldom see big-name celebs brave the hot seat for a mock-interview with Colbert. Well, tonight’s guest makes up for all the book-hawkers, cause-pushers and political pundits we have to endure most of the time: It’s Meryl Streep! Not many Oscar winners — at least those who are still relevant — would dare enter the Report lion’s den, with its impossible-to-impress, eager-to-jeer crowd, but then again even twentysomething hipsters find Streep (promoting Julie & Julia) to be the epitome of cool, so she’s immune. Expect banter that’ll go down in the Report Hall of Fame.

No, we didn’t forget about the elephant on tonight’s schedule — it’s just that the vast majority of TV viewers already knew SYTYCD’s finale was tonight, whereas very few were probably aware of the Colbert Report’s A-list guest. Here’s hoping we effected a seismic shift in the ratings for both shows! (Kidding.)
