Miami Movie Theaters: Tower Theater Miami
Located in the heart of Little Havana, Miami, the Tower Theater is South Florida’s highest-grossing art-house cinema. Established in 1926, the theater ran as the state’s first-run art house showcasing endless films. During the ‘50s and ‘60s, the cinema became a safe space for Cuban refugees to learn about American culture and have entertainment.
Now, the Tower Theater is operated by Miami Dade College, screening independent films, international cinema, and old classics. The theater has two operating auditoriums, with one auditorium holding 104 seats and the other holding 250. There is usually a working concession stand, but the operation is currently paused due to the pandemic.
The theater offers Spanish language films and English-language films with Spanish subtitles. Every year, it hosts Miami Film Festival’s Gems Film Festival to large audiences.
For those interested in having private screenings, the theater offers auditorium rentals. The rentals start at $75 for first-time customers and $99 for returners. You can choose from a selection of films and have a private screening with loved ones.

Silverspot Cinema is a “sophisticated” movie theater in the Miami area. It has 17 theaters with over 1,400 plush recliner seats. With Barco High Contrast Laser Projection and Dolby Cinema Sound, the theater gives audiences an immersive movie-watching experience. The cinema screens big Hollywood productions, independent and foreign films, operas, ballets, and concerts.
