Ready to go to the movies?
So, are ALL movie theaters open?
Towards the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, movie theaters across the country made the move to reopen while following safety precautions and state and federal guidelines. Big movie theater companies like AMC, Regal, and Cinemark began screening movies again in the summer of 2021.

Smaller independent movie theaters took a little longer to resume their regular programming. Some independent cinemas had to close for good due to lack of funds and support amidst the pandemic. However, many independent movie theaters, like the County Theater, are still going strong.

Now that theaters are up and running, many movie fans are making up for lost time as they attend the biggest screenings of the year. Spider-Man: No Way Home brought the second biggest box office debut ever in December of 2021. The Batman, which debuted in March 2022, earned $128.5 million in North American theaters on opening weekend.

Is it safe to go to a movie theater?
Theaters have implemented procedures so audiences feel safe when watching a film. AMC Theatres collaborates with Clorox to provide clean screening rooms. This includes maximized airflow and filtration systems, vacuumed spaces, thoroughly enhanced cleaning procedures, and disinfecting wipe stations (you can find more about AMC Theatre mandates in your area on the company’s website).
Other large movie theater companies have followed a similar pattern, with safety measures based on location. If you’re curious, research what procedures they have implemented for local independent theaters in your area.
If you’re still a little nervous about attending a movie theater, you can always start with a drive-in! They usually play new releases and are a lot of fun during the spring and summer months.

This is why I love movie theaters. Hearing people yell in excitement and having the same excitement as you is something special. https://t.co/58Z2VtrH3B
