Earlier this spring we reported that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was looking to get back to his ass-kicking roots with a role in the fifth upcoming Fast & Furious movie, Fast Five. Now, Tyrese Gibson (who will be reprising his role as Roman Pearce) has confirmed via Twitter that The Rock will indeed be onboard for Fast Five, which is heading into production at this very moment.
“Major shouts to Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, & Dewayne [sic] “Rock” Johnson!! “Fast & Furious Five” Let’s get em again!!” Gibson wrote yesterday from his Twitter account, while Ludacris confirmed that principal photography is about to begin in Puerto Rico: “Just landed in Puerto Rico. Shooting for Fast & Furious 5 is about to be underway…..”
So I guess that means Luda is back as ‘Tej!’
Hopefully his role in Fast Five (rumored to be towards the ‘law’ side on the Fast & Furious criminality spectrum) will be a return to form for Johnson, whose foray into kiddie fare with films like The Tooth Fairy has been disappointing for those of us who just want to smell what the rock is cooking again. Anyway, sources close to the film have also said that Johnson is involved, so expect confirmation from Universal soon.
